This 6-week course
offers tools from the filial (meaning parent and child) play therapy model and
is designed for parents seeking:
A sense of fulfillment in the role of parent
Understanding of their children's motivations, feelings, and behaviors
To learn the importance of play in overall adjustment
Better communication with children
Feelings of warmth and trust toward their children
Ways to prevent future problems
Parents will walk away from the
class able to play in specific ways with with
their child during brief "special play" sessions each week.
Additionally, these skills can
easily be incorporated into daily life.
Children also benefit.
They learn to:
Identify and cope effectively with feelings and emotions
Improve problem-solving and social skills
Reduce challenging behaviors
Accept accountability for their own choices and actions
Increase trust in parents
Improve self-acceptance
The Free Introduction on May 2 will provide more details
about the class, level of participation requested, and a video demonstration
of these sessions which are easy and fun for both parent and child.
