What is Reiki?
The
word Reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei” and “ki”.
“Rei” refers to the idea of spirit or divinity and “ki”
references the life force in all living things.
Thus, Reiki is a relaxation technique which utilizes universal life force
energy to aid in balancing and harmonizing the physical, mental, emotional, and
spiritual levels of a person.
Reiki
is a safe, nurturing modality used to support your healing process.
The positive effects of Reiki are cumulative and will carry forward from
session to session, building momentum as an individual moves through the healing
process.

Benefits
of Reiki
Reiki
may serve to activate a person’s innate healing mechanisms to support healing in
these areas and more:
Improved health
Deeper relaxation
More joy and love of living
Stress relief
Increased energy and vitality
Increased mental clarity
Improved relationships
A new, powerful recognition of the Self
Relief from depression
Decreased anxiety
Enhanced energy
Increased ability to focus
Reiki
compliments and enhances traditional medical interventions.
It is not medical or psychological treatment and is not a substitute for
such care. As such, you should
continue any treatments you are receiving from other health care professionals
while you are working with Reiki. There
are also no guarantees of a cure or the form in which healing may take place.

The Session
During the
session, you may lie on a massage table fully clothed or you may choose to sit
in a chair. The practitioner gently
places his/her hands on, or above, your physical body in positions corresponding
with the chakras and key points in the endocrine system.
The
practitioner works in partnership with your conscious intent, Higher Self, and
the Divine Source so that the amount of energy received and integrated during
your Reiki session will be that which best serves your highest good at that
moment in time. Remember, you are always in charge of the session and
it is your body that decides how much Reiki it needs.
There
may be times when it feels appropriate for you or the practitioner to share and
discuss thoughts, images, feelings, emotions, or other experiences during the
session. Remaining open to the
process in each moment allows for deeper understanding and healing.
You
may feel sensations such as:
Tingling
Shifts
in the breathing rhythm
Lightheadedness
Relaxation
Peace
Joy
Temperature changes Vibration
You
may also experience the release of emotions such as anger and sadness, along
with the need to cry. This includes
remembering experiences that are ready to be cleared.
